League Update 10-14-21
Thursday, October 14, 2021

Good Morning SBYSL Families!!

Reminders for this week:

Saturday, Oct 16thThis weekend is a long “vacation” weekend for most schools. If your child(ren) will not be at their game on Saturday, please reach out to your coach.

Community News:

Saturday, Oct 16th – OctoberFest at Salem Lutheran Church, 1530 Battery Ave. 12pm – 5pm

Saturday, Oct 23rd – Thomas Johnson Elementary/Middle School Fall Festival at the School

Oct 30th – Port to Fort 5K. Stay tuned for details on how this may affect our games.

Parents, PLEASE, if your child is sick, STAY HOME!! If you or your child is awaiting results from a Covid Test, please STAY HOME! Currently, there are other viruses going around, not just Covid. We are just a REC league, not world cup soccer. It is OK for your child to miss a game. SBYSL is trying our best to bring some normal to our kids as well as keeping them safe. We need your help to do just that.

This Saturday, Oct 16th – Federal Hill Prep will be selling concessions. Bring Cash, just in case.

Saturday, Oct 23rd – Francis Scott Key will be hosting a concession stand

If you have forgotten soccer balls, bags, uniforms, keys, jackets, etc…. please have your coach check SBYSL’s storage trailer for your lost items. Our field clean up crew have been finding items left behind and putting them in the trailer on Saturdays.

Our Players:

All our players are asked to arrive 15 mins before their game time in uniform, ready to play. SHIN GUARDS are mandatory (wear under socks)!! All players need them. Soccer cleats (non metal) are mandatory for ages 6 & Up, our 3’s, 4’s & 5’s can wear sneakers. Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. Sunscreen is also suggested.

We are asking our players and teams that play on Banner Field to meet your teammates outside the black fencing, near the dog park entrance to the field. Having our teams meet directly in front of the spectator benches is becoming disruptive for families trying to watch their kids play and does not help with social distancing for Covid.

Parking is available for our SBYSL Families on Decatur St, on FSK parking lot and behind FSK School, along Andre St and on the Parking Lot adjacent to Banner Field. PLEASE do not park on Latrobe Park Terrace! This is a residential street convenient to the fields, however it is very small and we want to be kind to our neighbors by not taking their parking spots.

The Locust Point Rec Center should be open on Saturdays and the bathrooms should be unlocked at the field house at Banner Field.

Parents & Spectators at Banner Field are being reminded to stay in the stands and behind the black fencing to watch games. Parents are not allowed on the field.

Parents & Spectators at the games at the grass fields are asked to stay 3 feet from the field lines. Do not crowd the player benches and coaches. A great option is for parents to sit opposite field from the player benches for our 5’s, 6’s and 7’s and U8 Girls’ leagues.

This virus is still lingering. SBYSL is committed to the safety of our players and volunteers.

  • Please, if you or your child are not feeling well, STAY HOME
