OPENING DAY - SEPT 11TH!!!
Wednesday, September 8, 2021

Greetings Coaches, Players and Parents!

Our 2021 Soccer Season is set to start on Saturday, Sept 11th! We are starting the season with 551 players – ages 3-17!!! THANK YOU!!!

By now you should have heard from a Coach. If not, please contact the league!!

Your Coach has picked up uniforms and should be distributing them to you this week.

**OPENING DAY – SEPT 11, 2021***

All age groups will play on Saturday. Please note the following:

9-11 Run to Remember has their route going through Locust Point around 11am. This will affect our 9am – 12pm games. Roads around the fields are expected to be closed. PLEASE allow yourself extra time to get to your games on time. E. Fort Ave is expected to be closed from Lawrence St to Ft McHenry. Decatur St is expected to be closed. Andre Street is expected to be closed. The parking lot at Banner Field is off limits to SBYSL until 12pm to allow the Vendors for the Locust Point Festival the space to park to unload for the festival. How do you get to the fields? If you live in Locust Point, walking is your best option. Biking from your destination, an option. If you live outside Locust Point, we are suggesting you take the Key Hwy extension which is the road that runs along Domino Sugars and Under Armour. Park on neighborhood streets, or UA’s parking lots and walk to the fields. After 12pm, roads should be opened. However, parking will be limited around the fields due to the festival. BUSY DAY!!

At 10:00 am on Sept 11th we will be having a Memorial & Dedication service for our Co-Founder and President Vic Doda. Vic passed away in February and we will be honoring him this Saturday. If you are able, join us at Banner Field before the 10am game for the ceremony. In addition, all games will have a moment of silence before starting to honor Vic.

The Locust Point Festival is also Saturday. The park will be filled with vendors and activities for the kids. Come before your game or stay after and enjoy the festival.

COVID-19:

This virus is still lingering. SBYSL is committed to the safety of our players and volunteers.

  • Please, if you or your child are not feeling well, STAY HOME
  • Participation in any group activities is only allowed if you have had no signs or symptoms of Covid-19, no signs/symptoms that may have been Covid-19, have not been exposed to someone who has had signs or symptoms of Covid-19 for a minimum period of 14 days before participation
  • Players and volunteers have the option to wear masks on and off the field.
  • Spectators are encouraged to say 6 feet apart, if not possible, we are encouraging wearing masks
  • There will be no team huddles
  • Players should not be sharing water bottles, snacks or equipment
  • There will be no handshakes or high fives during & after games. At the end of each game teams will line up and acknowledge each other with “Good Game”
  • For our younger teams who do snacks – please make sure they are pre-packaged snacks and only 1 person distributing.

All Game Days:

Players should arrive 15 minutes prior to game time in full uniform (shirts, shorts, shin guards, socks and cleats (sneakers for our younger kids)), a bottle of water, and ready to play. SBYSL has hired someone to set up our fields in the mornings and to take down in the afternoons. However, we will need our Coaches, Parents and Players to assist in keeping our fields clean by picking up and disposing all trash after games.

Parking:

Parking is available along Andre Street (by the tennis courts), on the Parking Lot next to the Banner Field, and Decatur Street (along the street, on school parking lot and limited parking behind school). PLEASE DO NOT park on Latrobe Park Terrace (the small street along the park - the one closest to the fields). The residents have limited parking as it is, so we do not want to take up their parking.

Construction is ongoing at the housing development project on Decatur St. Please use caution when traveling on Decatur Street.

Concessions:

We do not have a food vendor, however we will be checking with Miss Twist to see if she can visit us on Saturdays and we will be reaching out the Local School PTO's for fundraising opportunities for them.
