SBYSL Update 10-27-23
Saturday, October 28, 2023

Greetings SBYSL Families!

Saturday is expected to be beautiful!!! Remember to keep your player(s) hydrated and put on sunscreen!

***Port to Fort 6k***

There is a race that will affect our players arrival to the field. It is strongly encouraged for our parents and players to walk, bike or scoot to the fields in the morning.

The route for the race is as follows:

  • The race will begin on Fort Avenue by the Liberty Lot (1215 E Fort Ave)
  • Head west on Fort Avenue toward Light Street.
  • Left on Webster St., Right onto E Randall St., Right onto Belt St.
  • Right on Fort Avenue toward Fort McHenry
  • Enter Fort McHenry and complete Fort loop, returning to Fort Avenue and heading west.
  • The finish line is on Fort Avenue by the Liberty Lot.

Parking will be limited at the fields as the neighborhood is looking for parking since it is restricted on Fort Ave.

If you plan to drive – other routes into Locust Point include the access road along parallel to I95 by the cruise terminal, it will drop you at Andre Street near Banner Field. There is a lot next to Banner and street parking on Andre. You can use the Key Hwy Loop Road, which brings you at Domino Sugars and UA. This drops you at Hull Street, you will be able to park on any residential street on that side of E. Fort Ave.

Please allow extra time to get to the fields.

As the weather turns cooler, please make sure to dress your players in layers. Soccer uniform jersey should be on top of sweatshirts/jackets. Long pants or leggings under soccer shorts.

Players should arrive 15 minutes prior to game time in full uniform (shirts, shorts, shin guards, socks, and cleats (sneakers for our younger kids), a bottle of water, and ready to play. Please remove all jewelry and watches/fit bits. Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen. SBYSL has hired someone to set up our fields in the mornings and to take down in the afternoons. However, we will need our Coaches, Parents and Players to assist in keeping our fields clean by picking up and disposing of all trash after games.

PLAYERS ON BANNER FIELD:

We are asking our players and teams that play on Banner Field to meet your teammates for warm ups outside the black fencing, near the dog park entrance to the field. You may enter the field at the last whistle. Having our teams meet directly on the fields and/or in front of the spectator benches becomes disruptive for families trying to watch their kids play.

Parents:

Parents & Spectators at Banner Field are being reminded to stay in the stands and behind the black fencing to watch games. Parents are not allowed on the field.

Parents & Spectators at the games on the grass fields are asked to stay 3 feet from the field lines. Do not crowd the player benches and coaches. We are strongly encouraging our parents to sit opposite field from the player benches for our U6s, U7s and Co-Ed U9 and U8 Girls’ leagues.

Parking:

Parking is available along Andre Street (by the tennis courts), on the Parking Lot next to the Banner Field, and Decatur Street (along the street, on school parking lot and limited parking behind school). PLEASE DO NOT park on Latrobe Park Terrace (the small street along the park - the one closest to the fields). The residents have limited parking as it is, so we do not want to take up their parking.

Construction is ongoing at the housing development project on Decatur St. Please use caution when traveling on Decatur Street.

Bathrooms:

We are expecting the bathrooms at the field house by Banner Field will be open for all our games.

We ask everyone to be ENCOURAGING to our players. Remember, this is a FUN league!!!
